Dear BCA Families and Community Members:

Welcome to Bayou Community Academy Charter School, a place where children "Come to Learn and Learn to Serve". As a college preparatory institution, Elementary School-Pre-K through fourth grades and Middle School-fifth through eighth grades. the mission of BCA is to focus on scholars' achievements. We are about learning well and setting high expectations and high standards in the foundation of a safe, orderly, and encouraging school environments. Our academic programs are rigorous; however, we are also interested in character development which is embedded in our educational environments. Our elementary and middle schools' scholars and professionals and staff come from a rich variety of cultures from throughout Lafourche Parish. For that reason, our schools are unique.

In April of 2011, Bayou Community Academy Board of Trustees and the Lafourche Parish School Board entered into a charter agreement that resulted in the development of BCA (Type 1 Public Charter School). This charter provides our certified and highly qualified professionals with the opportunity to guide scholars through an enriching and challenging humanities, fine arts, technology, mathematics, science and social studies curriculum. It is designed to prepare scholars for an ever changing future, to be great communicators and contributing citizens, and prepares them for college and career readiness. In addition to this enriching and unique environment, we offer our scholars the opportunity to participate in clubs and sports.

Our educational environment includes Core Knowledge Foundation,  Great Books Foundation (Classic Literature), Singapore Math (sometimes called Primary Mathematics Curriculum), Eureka Math, Algebra 1, Keyboarding and Journey to Careers for middle school scholars, French program, and much more.  Elementary Principal, Dr.  Melanie Becnel, and Middle School Principal, Ms. Jessica Rosado, and our highly qualified professionals and staff, keep our parents abreast of our innovative programs and curricula.

Land has been purchased for a future school building.  A financial campaign is underway for our building program. Visit our website at www.bcacharter.org  for more details on the 5-K Walk/Run (November 4, 2017) and Annual Gala (March 17, 2018) fundraisers.
